Jannik Sinner is a three-time Grand Slam winner!
The 23-year-old Italian beat out Germany’s Alexander Zverev in three consecutive sets 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 and defended his crown at the 2025 Australian Open tennis tournament held at the Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, January 26 in Melbourne.
“[My team and I] worked a lot to be in this position and it’s an amazing feeling to share this moment with all of you,” Jannik shared. “I know a part of the team is at home and my family, but it is amazing to share these feelings with you. I know Darren [Cahill] it’s probably your last Australian Open as a coach and I am very, very happy to share this trophy with you. Everything started a little bit when I changed my combination of coaches and physio, I am very happy to have you all here.”

Jannik is currently embroiled in a doping controversy despite being cleared by an independent tribunal under the International Tennis Integrity Agency back in August. This ruling was appealed by the World Anti-Doping Agency and a hearing is scheduled for April. He tested positive for trace amounts of an anabolic steroid on two occasions last March but attributed it to accidental exposure linked to two former team members who have since been fired.
