The cult film studio Troma, known for its unapologetically outrageous cinema, is cooking up a sequel to its 2006 fast-food horror-comedy classic, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead.
The news broke through a report from Horror Fuel, which was later confirmed by Troma legend Lloyd Kaufman on X.
This time around, Troma has handed the reins to Mercedes the Muse, who will write and direct the sequel. Mercedes isn’t new to the Troma universe as she’s been carving out a unique space with projects like Gasmask Girl, Divide and Conquer, and her upcoming Rise of the Super Tromettes.
If you’re familiar with her style, you can expect she’ll bring plenty of chaos to this sequel. Troma has teased it will feature, as Mercedes puts it, “more guts, more blood, and more poultry.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the original, Poultrygeist is an unhinged tale of zombified chickens wreaking havoc on a fast-food restaurant built over an ancient Native American burial ground.
It’s everything you’d expect from a Troma film. It’s ridiculous, gory, and a gleeful middle finger to conventional cinema.
Details about the sequel’s plot are still under wraps, but you can expect complete horror-fueled absurdity.
