The Super Bowl isn’t just about football, it’s also one of the biggest nights for movie trailers, and this year is no exception. With the game set to take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, a handful of major studios are locking in their spots.
First up, James Gunn has confirmed that DC fans will get something new from Superman during the Puppy Bowl, but don’t expect a full-fledged trailer during the main Super Bowl broadcast.
Disney is going all in on its live-action slate, rolling out new looks at Snow White and Lilo & Stitch, alongside Pixar’s Elio.
Marvel Studios will drop teasers for only two of its three upcoming films: Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic 4: First Steps, but which two remains a mystery. I hope that they have something to show for The Fantastic 4, though!
Inside scooper MTTSH believes that the first Fantastic 4 trailer will debut either pre, during or post-game. So, we’ll see.
Universal has a packed lineup with the live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon, plus a first glimpse of Jurassic World Rebirth. Horror fans might also see a teaser for M3GAN 2.0, which is rumored to drop during the event.
Paramount is bringing the variety with new footage from Novocaine, its comedy thriller, the upcoming Smurfs animated musical, and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
Meanwhile, some major players are sitting this one out. Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Netflix, Amazon MGM Studios, Apple, and Lionsgate are skipping the big game.
