There has been a lot of back and forth on the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, with the last film having been released eight years ago, and many thinking it had finished there.
But producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been working hard behind the scenes to push the franchise forward, with reports that Disney was hoping to woo Johnny Depp out of Captain Jack Sparrow retirement to make at least one more film.
Now a new rumor states that the studio has done just that, and they are quietly moving forward with production on the next Pirates movie.
TheDisInsider states a source has told them that Walt Disney Studios is quietly gearing up to begin production on the next installment of the series at one Hollywood sound stage. Although there is no timeline for when production will officially begin, they’ve heard that this entry will feature the return of Depp!
Unfortunately there are no other details about the production at this time. For now, this is all still a rumor, so the outlet urges readers to take it with a grain of salt – at least until either Disney or any of the major trades confirm/debunk it.
