Jonah Hill is gearing up for his next directorial project with Cut Off, a new film at Warner Bros. The project, which Hill is also eyeing to star in and write, centers on two wealthy siblings who suddenly find themselves cut off from their parents.

While details remain under wraps, the film has already secured a $10 million California tax credit, positioning it as a $49 million production. The plan is to kick off filming this summer, though no other cast members have been attached yet.

Cut Off will mark Hill’s third narrative feature as a director, following his 2018 coming-of-age hit Mid90s and the upcoming Apple movie Outcome, which boasts a cast including Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, and Hill himself.

That film follows Hollywood actor Reef as he’s forced to face his past after a mysterious video resurfaces.

Beyond narrative features, Hill also directed Stutz, a deeply personal Netflix documentary featuring candid conversations with his therapist about mental health. The film explored the anxiety Hill has struggled with, particularly when it comes to promoting movies, which he described as turning his dream job into a nightmare.

With Cut Off in development, Hill continues to carve out a space for himself as both a filmmaker and storyteller beyond his on-screen comedy roots.
