The Netflix Marvel era had its ups and downs, but one thing fans pretty much agree on is that Krysten Ritter was great as Jessica Jones. Her portrayal of the hard-drinking, no-nonsense private eye was perfect.
Now, with Daredevil: Born Again back in production for Season 2, Ritter’s door to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still very much open.
Fans have speculated for a while that Jessica Jones might show up alongside Matt Murdock in Born Again. Theories picked up steam when Marvel officially made the old Netflix shows canon.
Ritter was even rumored to have nearly filmed a cameo for Echo, but that was reportedly dropped when the series pivoted to its “Marvel Spotlight” format and trimmed an episode.
So, where do things stand now? While there’s no confirmation of a Season 1 appearance, Season 2 is filming, and Ritter’s recent comments suggest she’s just as curious—and hopeful—as fans are.
“Listen, I love Jessica Jones,” she says. “I think it’s so exciting that there seems to be such an appetite to see her again. I get asked about it almost everyday. We remain cautiously optimistic.”
“If they asked me, I would be there ready,” Ritter added. “I may or may not have the jacket that I stole from set.”
Ritter’s been pretty quiet in the past when asked about coming back to the MCU, but this is one of the most open and playful acknowledgements we’ve seen from her. It doesn’t guarantee anything, but Daredevil: Born Again feels like the right place for her to reenter the fold. Especially with Mayor Fisk running the city.
A full-blown Jessica Jones revival might be a long shot, but even a cameo could be a lot of fun and lead to something more. And if they’re building something bigger in Hell’s Kitchen? She’s the kind of ally Matt Murdock could use.
