Sorry I’m a couple weeks late, but in March, Konami released Maze of the Master for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. This set had three things to draw duelists to open it: the reprint of Mulcharmy Purulia, the release of Seventh Tachyon, and the Odion-based archetype revolving around Trap Monsters.
That last one was something that a lot of people were disappointed in, but since release, some duelists have nabbed a few tops at tournaments, so maybe it’s not so bad. There were also new cards for the XYZ Dragon Cannon archetype such as retrains of the core three monsters, but they’re not great and the fact that X-Cross Cannon is an Ultra Rare while the other two are just Rare makes it ridiculous to try to put together anyways.
Konami was kind enough to send me a box of Maze of the Master to open and I’m not going to lie, it was epic! If you don’t believe me, watch the video below.
I did want to take a minute to talk about upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! products though. First, I’m genuinely hyped for Quarter Century Stampede releasing in the next week or so (official release date is April 11). Yes, it’s missing some no-brainers such as the Kashtira and Bystial cards.
However, there are still a fair number of cards that I’m excited for such as the alternate arts for Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and Red-Eyes Black Dragon; Mulcharmy Fuwalos; Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon; Trap Dustshoot; Mementotlan Angwitch; and many more.
Also, Konami recently announced information regarding the core booster set releasing in July: Duelist’s Advance. Releasing on July 4, duelists will be able to find new cards inspired by Yuma’s deck such as a new Rank 4 Gagaga Girl Xyz Monster, a new Link-2 Sky Striker Ace, and retrains of popular Psychic monsters. Oh, and let’s not forget about new Monarch support!
Duelist’s Advance will also have a brand-new World Premiere theme that will either be broken or (and more likely) utter garbage. Collectors will be excited for Duelist’s Advance as well as it marks the return of Starlight Rares replacing Quarter Century Secret Rares which are finally ending (I guess two years was a long enough celebration of the 25th year).
