Amanda Seyfried is reflecting on a 2013 interaction with Harvey Weinstein.
In a recent interview, the 39-year-old actress discussed inviting the now-disgraced film producer to the premiere of her 2013 movie Lovelace.
“Everybody admitted he was that way. Everybody knew he was. I didn’t know the extent, I had heard few rumors,” she told Adam Brody during the Variety Actors on Actors series.
Amanda said that while in Park City, Utah, over a decade ago, she approached Weinstein in his car and asked him if he was going to attend the premiere of Lovelace at the Sundance Film Festival. Apparently, he rescheduled his flight and attended the screening.

After the screening, Weinstein ended up approaching Amanda and acquired the project for $3 million for distribution, something which Amanda and her team celebrated at the time.
“I gave him the biggest hug. And it was actually his brother’s company called Radius, who just f—ing trashed it and threw it away and didn’t do anything with it and that’s fine. The whole room was buzzing. He was like the big papa of the room. But it’s just the way it was — we all needed him to want our project if it was an indie, because that meant it was going to go somewhere,” she added.
“So f–ked up. Hollywood is a safer place 1749521049. He was a dictator, he set the tone, people were scared of him. And if people are scared of somebody, the right things don’t happen,” she concluded.
