As Marvel gears up to roll out Ironheart, critics who’ve seen the full six-episode season are finally allowed to talk, and the early reactions are… let’s say, all over the place.
Some are all in, calling it a promising step forward, while others are more lukewarm, pointing to a series that struggles to find its rhythm.
One thing’s clear though, Ironheart is getting people talking, especially about its wild finale. Even the more hesitant reviews seem to agree that the show builds to something surprising and ambitious by the end.
Some feel the series is not good, uninteresting and soulless. Other’s love it saying it’s their favorite Marvel show and that it’s better than most Marvel theatrical releases.
That said, there’s near-universal praise for the performances. Dominique Thorne seems to impress as Riri Williams, and Alden Ehrenreich and Anthony Ramos are being singled out as major highlights. Even when the story meanders, these three are apparently giving the show real energy.
So is Ironheart a win for Marvel or another mixed bag? Based on these early takes, it sounds like it’ll depend on how much patience you have for a slow burn with a strong finish.
