Jeremy Renner’s hit Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown has been renewed for Season 4. They news comes a few months after the third season came to close.
The American crime thriller series was co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon. The show is set in Kingstown, Michigan, a fictional company town where the business is incarceration.
The McLusky family have been keeping the peace in Kingstown for decades, acting as the mediators between the street gangs, prisoners, guards, and cops.
Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
In season three, “a series of explosions rocked Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob set up shop in the city, and a drug war raged inside and outside prison walls.
“The pressure was on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war but things got complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatened to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.”
When previously asked about the possibility of a fourth season, Renner said: “I have to make it through Season 3 first. We’ll see if I do. I’ve enjoyed being with this character and exploring, and I always think there’s more to explore.
“When the world is set up so beautifully, like it is in Mayor of Kingstown, and all the chess pieces are there, every time you play chess, it’s a new game. It’s like that with this [show].
“For the audience, they just get more involved and invested in the characters, just as I do. I’ve only seen the first episode, so I’m excited to see the rest of the season. I don’t know half the things. I only focused on my part.”
I’ve been enjoying this show, so it’s great to hear that we are going to be getting another season!
