Warner Bros.’ WaterTower Music has officially released composer John Murphy’s Superman theme that was featured in the film’s first trailer, which included an electric guitar riff on John Williams’ legendary theme.
No joke, since I watched this trailer for Superman, my mind has been replaying Williams’ Superman theme from the 1978 film over and over in my head. I’m seriously whistling it right now as I write this in a coffee shop that I’m in and my daughter is just glaring at me as I do. It is a perfect movie score.
Titled “Theme from Superman (Trailer Version),” Murphy’s score slowly builds toward an awesome updated version of Williams’ uplifting and heroic score which goes hand in hand with Superman.
Listen to Murphy’s Superman theme below or listen on Spotify. I’m so excited about this movie as it feels like it’s exactly the tone of what a Superman movie should be!
Superman also stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane; Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor; Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern; Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific; Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen; María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher; and Terence Rosemore as Otis.
Superman will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
