Ubisoft just dropped the trailer for Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune, the second (and possibly final) story expansion for their open-world scoundrel simulator.
Set to release May 15th, the new DLC looks to shake things up with pirates, lost treasure, and an infamous fan-favorite character from The Clone Wars, Hondo Ohnaka.
This new chapter throws Kay Vess and her fuzzy companion Nix into the lawless Khepi system, where they’ll have to navigate crumbling tombs, black-market trades, and rival raiders to survive. Ubisoft teases:
“Embark on a mysterious adventure with Kay and Nix to explore the Khepi system and learn what it takes to be a true leader. Team up with legendary pirate Hondo Ohnaka and face off against Stinger Tash and her Rokana Raiders as you infiltrate the Khepi Tomb to uncover the secrets and hidden treasures it holds.
“Along the way, they’ll discover the Miyuki Trade League who offer new rewards for the Trailblazer in exchange for smuggling dangerous goods across the galaxy.”
The expansion is free for anyone with the Season Pass (included in the Gold and Ultimate Editions), or you can grab it à la carte for $14.99. Ubisoft is also running a 50% off sale on the Gold and Deluxe Editions right now, which might be tempting if you’ve been holding out since launch.
In addition to the story content, Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners are getting two new cosmetic packs that include Naboo Nobility and Desert Nomad. And whether you buy the DLC or not, all players will receive a free Title Update on May 15th featuring new Star Wars: Skeleton Crew-inspired cosmetics for Nix and the speeder.
While the game scored in the mid-70s on Metacritic and earned praise for its characters and world design, it was also criticized for technical issues and a feeling of familiarity that didn’t push the genre forward. Ubisoft has patched many of the problems since then, but the game still underperformed commercially.
That said, if you’re curious, now’s a good time to test the waters. Ubisoft is offering a free three-hour demo across all platforms so players can see what it’s like to live the rogue life between Empire and Jedi.
