THR‘s sources claim that execs at Amazon MGM Studios are “unhappy with what they have seen so far of season two.” The outlet also notes that the show was originally championed by former studio head Jennifer Salke, who just left the company.
Amazon had planned an entire franchise of Citadel spinoffs for various international locations, with Italy’s Citadel: Diana and India’s Citadel: Honey Bunny already available to watch.
THR reports that “development of any spinoffs has been put on hold as the second season of the flagship series gets fine-tuned.”
It was previously said that Citadel was made as Amazon’s answer to James Bond, but now the company has assumed creative control of the beloved spy franchise.
