Daredevil: Born Again was set up to be a massive hit for Marvel Studios and Disney+, and while it did pull in the biggest premiere for the platform this year, the numbers tell a more complicated story.
According to The Wrap, Daredevil: Born Again racked up 7.5 million global views in its first five days, making it the top Disney Plus launch of 2025 so far. That’s an impressive feat, but when compared to other recent Marvel and Star Wars shows, it doesn’t exactly scream “runaway hit.”
Agatha All Along debuted to 9.3 million views (though with two extra days of streaming), while The Acolyte pulled in 11.1 million views in its first five days. Even Loki Season 2 in 2023 managed 10.9 million views in just three days.
That said, Daredevil still outpaced some of Disney Plus’s other recent releases, including Goosebumps: The Vanishing, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Pixar’s Win or Lose, so it’s definitely not a flop.
But the fact that it’s not dominating the way Marvel might have hoped points to a larger issue: the MCU isn’t the juggernaut it once was. After setting sky-high expectations with The Infinity Saga, Marvel’s recent projects have struggled to maintain that same level of excitement.
But here’s the thing, Daredevil: Born Again is a freakin’ great show. I think it’s one of the best Marvel series that’s been made, delivering exactly what fans have been waiting for. Hopefully, viewership picks up as the season continues.
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming previously said that Marvel is looking to make Daredevil: Born Again a long-term, annual event.
“That is the plan. Season 2 will come out next year, and then hopefully season 3 and season infinity after that. I think this world is extremely rich, and there are many stories to be told on the streets of New York.”
But, those numbers have got to get better if the series wants to keep going. Remember, Star Wars: The Acolyte had bigger numbers and it ended up being cancelled after only one season.
Charlie Cox is back as the Man Without Fear, joined by Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. The show balances street-level grit with strong storytelling, and it’s a must watch.
So while Daredevil: Born Again might not have shattered records, it’s bringing something even more important to the table—a quality Marvel show that fans can actually get excited about.
