Christy Martin is coming to Sydney Sweeney‘s defense.
Earlier this week, Ruby Rose took to social media to slam the 28-year-old Emmy-nominated actress following the release of her new biopic Christy, which is based on the female boxer’s life.
Ruby, 39, claimed that she was originally supposed to star in the movie, called Sydney a “cretin,” and said that she “ruined the film.”
After Ruby‘s harsh comments made headlines, Christy took to Instagram to show her support for Sydney.

“Syd not only worked her ass off for this film, she worked her ass off for me,” she continued. “For my story. For so many others suffering in silence. So I want to be clear about who Syd is. She is my friend and ally!”
If you missed it, Sydney just responded to the poor box office numbers despite the film receiving an incredible 98% on the Rotten Tomatoes audience Popcorn meter. In her message, she did reveal why she did the film and what made her most proud.
