M. Night Shyamalan’s next film is a supernatural romance titled Remain, and he’s collaborating with The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks on a story that will blend love, grief, and the afterlife. Shyamalan and Sparks are co-authoring a narrative that’s unfolding simultaneously as both a film and a novel.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor are set to star in the movie version, with Shyamalan writing and directing the screenplay. Meanwhile, Sparks is penning the novel adaptation of the same story, due out October 7, 2025.
“I’m excited to share the cover for the novel version of REMAIN, my upcoming collaboration with @NicholasSparks,” Shyamalan shared on X. “The book, written by Nicholas, will be available on 10/7/2025. More news on the film I’m writing and directing coming soon.”
