A famed forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, who is the former chief medical examiner for New York City, is offering insight into what he believes could have happened to Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa.
The two-time Oscar winner and his wife were found deceased in their home last week, sparking an investigation into what happened. He was 95 years old and she was 63. After their deaths were originally thought to not be suspicious in nature, they were later labeled “suspicious” due to the condition of the scene.

Dr. Baden said on Fox News, “So the autopsy showed he didn’t have any injury. There was no carbon monoxide. And he had — the most common cause of death in this country — severe heart disease, coronary artery disease and high blood pressure perhaps, from what’s been released.”
The Dr. shares that it’s possible Betsy found her husband in an emergency state and rushed to get his medication. However, it’s possible that because she was hurried, she may have injured herself.
“She may have struck her head on the way down and had some internal injury to the brain that doesn’t show up on the outside or bleeding in the inside of the brain,” he continued.
