Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are set to reunite for a new film, but it doesn’t involve a runaway bus this time.
The duo, who made movie magic in Speed and reunited in the time-bending romance The Lake House, are teaming up again for an untitled romantic thriller in development at Amazon MGM Studios.
And while plot details are being kept under wraps, the project is being described as “propulsive.” So, we can expect a fast-paced energetic film that tells a gripping story.
Reeves and Bullock are also reteaming with Speed producer Mark Gordon, who, alongside screenwriter Noah Oppenheim (Jackie, Zero Day), helped hatch the idea before bringing it to the actors. From there, the team began developing the film together, so this one’s clearly a passion project all around.
It’s hard to overstate the pop culture impact Speed had when it hit theaters in 1994. With its high-concept “Die Hard on a bus” pitch and the crackling chemistry between its leads. Reeves and Bullock have been fan-favorite screen partners ever since.
Both stars are coming into this project with recent success. Reeves voiced Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and last appeared on screen in John Wick: Chapter 4. Bullock, meanwhile, starred in The Lost City, which further proved she still owns the romantic adventure lane.
It’s still early days, but with Reeves, Bullock, and their Speed producer all in the driver’s seat again, this is sure to be shaping up to be a ride worth taking.
