Marvel’s Multiverse Saga is about to kick into high gear with the debut of Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and a whole host of superheros that will be fighting against him. And if you think the movie will wrap everything up in a neat little bow, think again.
In a recent interview with Collider, Captain America actor Anthony Mackie offered a small but intriguing tease about the upcoming Marvel epic.
According to him, Doomsday will be a major turning point in the MCU, and it ends on one hell of a cliffhanger.
“You know what? I was really excited, man,” Mackie said. “It’s one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries, and it — the cliffhanger at the end, you know, the last moments of the film — it really builds and sets us up for a way for the continuation of the Marvel saga, which is really exciting.”
Mackie also emphasized that the stakes in this story are real and higher than fans might expect, saying: “You see these characters, and you see how they’re introduced and how they play in the universe moving forward, and no one is safe. Everyone is expendable.”
Well, it’ll be really interesting if Marvel does actually kill off some of their characters for good. There are plenty of character to choose from!
The film’s stacked ensemble includes returning Avengers and newcomers alike including: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
There’s also more cast members yet to be announced. So, it’ll be interesting to see what other chafracters will be jumping into the action.
Directed by the Russo Brothers, Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, and it’ll directly lead into Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
