This is Spinal Tap, one of my favorite comedies of all time is getting a theatrical re-release for its 41st anniversay, and a trailer has been released to promot the release!
I’ve never seen this movie on the big screen, and now I will have the opportunity to experience the remastered, remixed, and definitive version of the mockumentary masterpiece.
The original This is Spinal Tap debuted in 1984 and it was directed by Rob Reiner. It chronicles England’s loudest and most punctual band on their disaster-filled U.S. tour. The movie stars Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Rob Reiner, June Chadwick, Tony Hendra, Bruno Kirby.
This Is Spinal Tap “shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs, gold albums, name changes and undersold concert dates, along with the full host of requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real.”
The original This is Spinal Tapbe released in theaters starting July 5th, 2025. There’s also a sequel coming, which I’m also incredibly excited about!
